RallyLink
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 April 2026
RallyLink ("we", "us", "our") is an application for reporting safety incidents during rally events. This privacy policy describes how we collect, use and protect your personal data.
1. What data do we collect?
- Account data: email address, display name and assigned role (e.g. 00, SC, CC).
- Location data: GPS position while driving a stage, including in the background. This is used locally on your device to show your position on the rally route and to register incidents at the correct location. Your raw GPS position is not shared with other users or HQ.
- Camera and photos: photos you take when reporting an incident. Photos are only sent when you explicitly choose to do so.
- In-vehicle safety camera: some safety vehicles are equipped with a RallyLink camera that films and live-streams the route to race control during an active run. Footage is visible only to HQ. No audio is recorded.
- Usage data: timestamps of runs, reported incidents and their status.
2. How do we use your data?
- Displaying your position on the rally route on your own device.
- Registering and sharing safety incidents with other crew members in real-time.
- Displaying incident reports and in-vehicle camera footage on the admin portal for race control (HQ), enabling real-time safety monitoring and coordination during the event.
- Managing events, stages and user roles.
- Improving safety during rally events.
3. Sharing of data
Your data is shared with:
- Other crew members of the same event: incident reports, your role and display name via the mobile app.
- Race control (HQ): all incident reports, photos, in-vehicle camera footage, your role and display name are visible on the admin portal for real-time monitoring and coordination.
- Supabase (backend provider): for storage and real-time synchronization.
- Cloudflare: for storage of photos and videos.
- Mapbox: for map display (anonymous map data).
We do not sell your data to third parties.
4. Storage and security
Your data is stored on secured servers of Supabase (EU) and Cloudflare (Western Europe). We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data.
5. Retention period
Account data (email, name, role) is retained for as long as you have an account, including between rallies, so you do not have to register again for a future event. You can request deletion of your account at any time via the app (Profile > Delete data) or by email.
Event data (incidents, photos, videos, GPS coordinates of incidents, runs) is deleted by the organiser within 1 month after the end of the event.
6. Your rights (GDPR)
You have the right to:
- Access, correct or delete your personal data.
- Submit a data deletion request via the app (Profile > Delete data).
- Withdraw your consent for location access via your phone settings.
7. Background location
RallyLink uses your location in the background only during an active run on a rally stage. This allows the app to:
- Keep track of your position on the route locally, even when the screen is off.
- Register incidents at the correct GPS position.
- Detect nearby incidents for confirmation or resolution.
- Automatically detect the correct stage based on your position.
Your raw GPS position is not sent to a server and is not visible to other users. Only the GPS coordinates of reported incidents are stored. Location tracking stops automatically when you end a run.
8. Children
RallyLink is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be published on this page with an updated date.
